O-T-A-K-U ? WHAT IS THIS?

Otaku (in Genaral) :
For those who watch anime may be known what "otaku" means but let's put it in a simple equation...

Otaku = anime + manga

At the beggining the term "Otaku" had a negative meaning (a Japanese derogatory term for people with obsessive interests, particularly in anime and manga) but according to studies published in 2013, the term has taken a more positive meaning and an increasing number of people now indetify themselves as otaku, both in Japan and elsewhere.

Nowadays, we called someone otaku when he or she watches anime and manga but what does "anime" and "manga" mean?

In its most basic form, anime refers to animation but the name itself isn’t an abbreviation of the English word animation. Instead, it’s how you say “animated cartoon” in Japanese. To a Japanese viewer, anime is any cartoon, whether it’s made in Japan or not. Outside of Japan, however, the term anime has come to mean “animation made in Japan,” or more broadly, any animated show or movie that uses signature aspects of Japanese-style animation, like vibrant colors, dramatic panning, and characteristic facial expressions. Anime has a wide range of viewers. People who don't watch anime think that anime and cartoons are the same but actually are not. So to explain the difference as simple as possible, let's watch a video... (and ofcourse anime are not for children)

Manga are comics or graphic novels created in Japan or by creators in the Japanese language, conforming to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. They have a long and complex pre-history in earlier Japanese art.

So have you ever read manga or watched anime?
If it is a yes then what was your first manga or anime?
